Hyatt’s Transformative Growth Across Europe, Middle East & Africa


Javier Águila was appointed as Executive Vice President, Group President – EAME in October 2022. In this role, Mr. Águila is responsible for leading the strategic growth and overall operations of Hyatt’s portfolio in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Most recently, he served as Group President, AMResorts Europe and Global Strategy at Apple Leisure Group (ALG) which became part of Hyatt in 2021. Prior to that, Mr. Águila founded Alua Hotels and Resorts, a Spanish hotel group of all-inclusive and leisure properties and served as Chief Executive Officer until the company was acquired by Apple Leisure Group in 2019. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Orizonia Corporation, a tour operator in Spain. Before starting his career in the hospitality and travel sector Mr. Águila worked for more than 10 years in private equity and management consulting at The Carlyle Group, McKinsey & Company and Booz Allen Hamilton.
