IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced the signings of four new hotels in Italy, marking another milestone in its long-term growth strategy for the country and taking its Italian portfolio to over 50 open and pipeline properties.

The signings span key urban and leisure destinations and include a new dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Milan NoLo - a first for the Staybridge Suites brand and the dual-branded hotel for IHG in Italy – alongside Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello and Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova. Together, the deals underline IHG’s continued expansion across multiple brands and segments in the market, as well as its focus on conversion opportunities and partnerships with experienced Italian owners and operators.

IHG continues to invest in Italy as a priority growth market in Europe, supported by robust tourism, diverse demand drivers across urban and leisure markets, and increasing owner appetite for internationally branded hotels. The latest additions build on IHG’s established presence in the country and reflect its strategy of growing scale in strategic cities while expanding into high-quality leisure destinations.

Crowne Plaza Milan NoLo and Staybridge Suites Milan NoLo

The dual‑branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel will be located in Milan’s fast‑growing NoLo district, further strengthening its presence in Italy’s primary commercial and tourism hub. The project involves the conversion and rebranding of an existing hotel into a combined upper‑upscale and extended‑stay offering, comprising 167 Crowne Plaza rooms and 96 Staybridge Suites apartments, with both hotels scheduled to open in January 2027.

The hotels are owned by Reinvest and debut the Staybridge Suites brand to Milan while enhancing IHG’s Crowne Plaza presence in the city. The dual‑brand hotel will feature multiple restaurants and bars, a pool, fitness facilities, and eight meeting rooms spanning 1,000 sqm, catering to a mix of corporate, leisure, and longer‑stay guests.

The property has a highly sought-after location within the city, with excellent connectivity to key cultural landmarks. Located 500 metres from Turro (M1 metro) and eight stops from the Duomo, it benefits from easy access to Milan’s historic centre. Its position is ideal for both business and leisure travellers, with strong transport links, parking, proximity to Milan Central Station (3 km), and 20 minutes from Linate Airport.

Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello

Further reinforcing this growth, IHG has also signed Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello, marking the group’s first Hotel Indigo in the Apulia region and a significant step in strengthening its Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Southern Italy. The 129‑key new-build hotel is owned by AG Group and is scheduled to open in 2028.

Located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello and within driving distance of Bari and Brindisi airports, the hotel will draw inspiration from the local neighbourhood and cultural heritage in line with the Hotel Indigo brand. Planned facilities include a spa, gym, and congress centre, positioning the hotel strongly within one of Italy’s fastest‑growing leisure destinations.

Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova

IHG will introduce the Garner brand to Turin with the conversion of a centrally located 57-room hotel, marking its second Garner signing in Italy. Set within a historic building directly opposite Torino Porta Nuova railway station, the hotel benefits from a prime city centre location with strong connectivity to key demand drivers. Scheduled to open in mid-2027 under a franchise agreement with Gruppo Stay – IHG's first partnership with the Italian hotel group – the project will build on IHG's growing presence in the city and support the continued expansion of its midscale conversion brand across Southern Europe.

IHG has 32 open hotels in Italy across eight brands; Six Senses, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Garner, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express, with an additional 20 in the development pipeline. These signings join recent landmark openings and signings in the country, including the signing of the first Kimpton property in Taormina, Sicily, and the recent opening of the first Garner in the country with Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia.....
