IHG Hotels & Resorts today announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta in partnership with real estate developer PT Raka Eka Makmur. Scheduled to open in 2029, the hotel will mark IHG’s debut in Yogyakarta and further strengthen the company's growing Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Indonesia. Building on the success of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach and subsequent openings in Bandung and Bintan, the signing of Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta further boosts the brand's momentum in Indonesia. IHG currently operates three Hotel Indigo properties across the country, with a further six in the pipeline in key destinations including Bali, Jakarta, and Lombok.

Chris Anklin, Senior Director, Development, South East Asia & Korea, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, "We are delighted to bring the Hotel Indigo brand to Yogyakarta, a destination renowned for its rich cultural heritage, creative energy, and enduring appeal among domestic and international travellers. As we expand our Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio across Indonesia, we see growing opportunities in destinations with distinctive local character and authentic stories. Yogyakarta is a natural fit for Hotel Indigo, a brand inspired by the character and spirit of the neighbourhoods it calls home. Yogyakarta's position as the gateway to Borobudur, one of Indonesia's five Super Priority Destinations, coupled with strong travel demand and enhanced air connectivity through Yogyakarta International Airport, reinforces its appeal as a key tourism hub and supports our strategy of growing in compelling destinations. This signing marks the beginning of our partnership with PT Raka Eka Makmur. Together, we look forward to creating a hospitality experience that showcases the best of Yogyakarta while contributing to the city's continued growth as a tourism destination."

In every city the brand calls home, Hotel Indigo hotels draw inspiration from the local neighborhood, culture, and popular trends in food, drink, and design to create a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

The 180-key Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta will be thoughtfully designed to reflect the city's rich cultural identity and creative heritage. Facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, rooftop bar and terrace, swimming pool, fitness centre, and spa, alongside approximately 740 square metres of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and multiple meeting rooms.

Ronny Pallar, the President Director of PT Raka Eka Makmur, said, “We are pleased to partner with IHG to introduce Hotel Indigo to Yogyakarta. As the cultural heart of Java, Yogyakarta is renowned for its rich heritage, artistic traditions, and vibrant creative community, making it a natural fit for Hotel Indigo's neighbourhood-inspired approach. The hotel will offer guests an authentic gateway to the destination's arts, culinary, and cultural experiences, while serving as a base to explore iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Borobudur and Prambanan. Together with IHG, we look forward to creating a hotel that captures the spirit of Yogyakarta and enables guests to experience the people, culture, and stories that make this destination truly unique."

IHG currently operates 35 hotels across nine brands in Indonesia, with a further 13 properties in the pipeline, underscoring its continued commitment to growth in the country.
