Mandarin Oriental Announces Two New Leadership Appointments for Two New Hotels in Cortina and Rome

Mandarin Oriental has appointed two general managers ahead of the opening of Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina and Mandarin Oriental, Rome in 2027. The appointments mark an important step in the Group's strategic growth in Italy, further reinforcing its long-term commitment to Europe's luxury hospitality sector.

Nicola brings more than 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality across some of Italy's most prestigious destinations and internationally recognised hotel brands.

Nicola is delighted to become General Manager of Mandarin Oriental's first Alpine resort, which is scheduled to open in Cortina in 2027. He will report to Area General Manager, Samuel Porreca.

Nicola brings more than 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality across some of Italy's most prestigious destinations and internationally recognised hotel brands. Originally from Desenzano del Garda, Nicola began his career in guest relations before building a solid operational background in front-office, rooms division and hotel management roles.

He joined the Group in 2020 as Resort Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como, where he oversaw the full operation of the seasonal resort. Most recently, he served as Hotel Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Milan, before taking on the new position in Cortina.

Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Nicola held senior roles with Baglioni Hotels & Resorts, including at Baglioni Resort Cala del Porto, Baglioni Hotel Carlton in Milan, as well as L'Andana–Tenuta La Badiola and L'Albereta Relais & Châteaux. His earlier career included roles at Park Hyatt Milan, Hotel de Russie in Rome and Villa Feltrinelli on the shores of Lake Garda.

Having joined the Group on 15 June, Mirko is taking on the position of General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Rome, which is scheduled to open in 2027. He will report to Regional Vice President, Operations, Flavia Caponi.

Mirko's international luxury hospitality leadership experience spans more than 25 years across Europe and Asia. He has held senior roles with Shangri-La Group, Dorchester Collection, Corinthia Hotels, Taj Hotels and Savoy Group (now Maybourne) in cities including Rome, London, Singapore, Bangkok, Cebu and Mumbai.

Most recently, Mirko served as General Manager of Hotel Eden Rome, where he was recognised for delivering highly personalised guest experiences, strong commercial performance and a distinctive service culture. A significant part of his career is also rooted in Food and Beverage (F&B) leadership, having held senior F&B roles across luxury hotels and resorts.

Originally from Lake Como, Mirko holds certifications from the Hotel and Catering Institutional Management Association (HCIMA) in London and Cornell University's General Managers Program.
