INSPIRATION: Mandarin Oriental, Doha, a landmark project in the heart of Msheireb Downtown, was a decade in the making and has redefined the standard for luxury hotels in Qatar. Its central location amidst the city’s cultural landmarks, luxury boutiques, and the vibrant Barahat Msheireb town square makes it a hub for diplomats, business leaders, and discerning travellers seeking elegance and comfort in the heart of Doha.

Designed by the late David Collins and his studio, the hotel’s interiors artfully blend Qatar’s rich cultural heritage with Mandarin Oriental’s distinctive style. The design process, which began in 2010, was inspired by local elements such as antique pottery shards and Qatar’s pearl-diving history. The hotel’s low-rise structure, designed by John McAslan + Partners, integrates seamlessly into Msheireb Downtown’s vision of sustainable urban development. Its eco-friendly design and innovative climate-controlled features reflect Qatar’s forward-thinking approach to modern architecture.

Since its grand opening, Mandarin Oriental, Doha has continued to evolve, enhancing its status as a premier luxury destination. The hotel features 249 guest rooms and suites, including 91 apartment-style residences, ten worldclass dining venues, two rooftop pools, and dedicated men’s and women’s spas, all offering unparalleled service and experiences.

THOMAS KINSPERGER - GENERAL MANAGER

Thomas Kinsperger is the General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha since 2023, responsible for executive management and operations.

Thomas began his career with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2008 at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. In 2011, he was appointed Food & Beverage Manager at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, overseeing the entire F&B operations including internationally acclaimed partnership restaurants such as Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Bar Boulud, London.

In 2012, Thomas assumed the role of Director of Food & Beverage at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, where he successfully managed extensive operations, including 12 restaurants and four retail shops. He later served as Project Director of The Residences in Bangkok, leading the opening of 146 ultra-luxury residences.

Joining Mandarin Oriental, Doha in 2019 as Hotel Manager, Thomas demonstrated exceptional leadership, contributing to the hotel's prestigious accolades, including five consecutive years of Forbes Travel Guide FiveStar recognition and three consecutive years for The Spa in 2024. Renowned for his dedication to service excellence and sustainability, Thomas has positioned Mandarin Oriental, Doha as a leader in guest satisfaction and environmental stewardship, including eliminating single-use plastics and securing the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification.
