Mandarin Oriental honored the groundbreaking of Mandarin Oriental, Miami and The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, a significant milestone in the brand's return to one of the world's most dynamic luxury destinations.

Held on Brickell Key, the ceremonial shovel-in-ground event brought together leadership from Mandarin Oriental, Swire Properties, project partners, and invited guests to celebrate the next phase of a landmark destination set to redefine luxury hospitality, residential living, and lifestyle experiences in Miami.

The project builds on Mandarin Oriental's longstanding connection to the city while introducing a bold expression of the brand for the future. Central to the project is Mandarin Oriental's longstanding partnership with Swire Properties, continuing a shared history on Brickell Key. The development brings together this enduring partnership with globally renowned architecture practice KPF, whose two-tower design provides the architectural vision for the new destination.

"Mandarin Oriental has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, growing our global portfolio while raising our ambitions for what we offer our guests,” said Laurent Kleitman, Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental. “We are creating hotels that are not only exceptional places to stay but destinations, bringing together outstanding dining, wellness, culture, and programming. The new development in Miami will embody that evolution, building on our longstanding connection to Brickell Key while introducing a new expression of our brand.”

For the groundbreaking, Mandarin Oriental brought together talent from across its global portfolio, creating a rare opportunity to experience in one evening the creativity, craftsmanship, and hospitality that distinguish the brand. The culinary journey included Pizza Omakase-inspired creations from Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo; Mediterranean flavors from Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino; signature desserts from Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok; and cocktails showcasing talent from Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen and Mandarin Oriental, Vienna.

The groundbreaking follows a strong market response to The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, developed by Swire Properties. Residential sales have surpassed $1.7 billion to date, including record-setting transactions and pricing. This demand underscores confidence in the project's long-term vision and reflects the continued appeal of hospitality-led residential living anchored by the Mandarin Oriental brand.

“Breaking ground on The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami marks another important milestone in Swire Properties' long-term vision for Brickell Key," said Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “Our strong sales momentum reflects the project's differentiated value in South Florida's competitive luxury market—driven by its prime waterfront location, the development team's track record, the global brand recognition of Mandarin Oriental, and world-class design partners.”

Within Mandarin Oriental's expanding global portfolio, Miami will form part of a new generation of hotels, residences, and mixed-use destinations shaped by their locations and by a broader ambition for the guest experience. The openings of Mandarin Oriental, Mallorca, and Mandarin Oriental, Vienna in 2026, followed by Rome and Cortina in 2027, reflect this period of growth and the continued evolution of the Group's portfolio.

Mandarin Oriental, Miami, and The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami bring the Group's growing expertise in hospitality-led residential living to Brickell Key, combining world-class service, exceptional design, and curated lifestyle experiences within one destination. The project builds on a global portfolio of 16 Mandarin Oriental Residences in operation and a pipeline of 20 new residences set to open by 2031, including announced projects in Kanai, Riviera Maya, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, and West Palm Beach. In Miami, that experience supports a long-term commitment to creating a destination for residents and travelers alike...
