Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo announces its 20th Anniversary, a year-long celebration of 2 decades of unparalleled luxury, legendary service, and culinary artistry. Nestled in the heart of Nihonbashi, the city’s heart of culture, craftsmanship, heritage and commerce, the hotel has welcomed guests from around the globe with a deep respect for its historic surroundings, redefining Japanese hospitality as the pinnacle of comfort and elegance.

David Collas joined Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo on 1 January 2024, he is a seasoned hotelier with extensive experience in the hospitality industry spanning over two decades.
Mr. Collas embarked on his Mandarin Oriental journey in 2010 as Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. He then took on the role of Hotel Manager at Mandarin Oriental, New York in 2013, overseeing operations at one of the city's most prestigious hotels. He also spent time as the General Manager of the Group's formerly managed hotel in Atlanta from 2016, and subsequently as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Geneva in 2019.
During his tenure in Geneva, Mr. Collas led the renovation of the property and successfully opened the new concept restaurant SACHI. Before joining Mandarin Oriental, Mr. Collas held key leadership roles at distinguished hotels including The Ritz London, Hotel Martinez in Cannes, as well as Four Seasons Hotel George V and Hotel Plaza Athénée, both situated in Paris. Hailing from the Champagne region in France, Mr. Collas is fluent in both French and English. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Business and Law from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Inspired by Sejin no Hi (Coming of Age) – a traditional celebration of reaching maturity formerly marked at 20 years old – Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo’s anniversary embodies this spirit of reflection and renewal. This milestone honours its distinguished past while looking forward to an exciting future.
To commemorate this special milestone, Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo has unveiled an exclusive anniversary logo inspired by the traditional hanko stamp. Thoughtfully designed, it beautifully blends heritage and innovation, paying tribute to the cherished Japanese tradition of collecting stamps—a beloved pastime for travelers in Japan.
