Marriott International Reaches 300 Properties in Mexico, with Over 70 Hotels in the Country’s Pipeline
Conversions, resort development, and expansion into high-demand markets are driving growth across Marriott’s portfolio, from midscale to luxury and traditional hotels to all-inclusive.
Key Facts
Marriott International celebrated the opening of its 300th property in Mexico with the debut of Courtyard by Marriott Torreón.
Mexico is Marriott’s largest market in the Caribbean and Latin America region, accounting for more than half of the company’s open properties in the region and almost 40% of its projects currently in the region’s pipeline.
Conversions continue to play a significant role in Mexico, accounting for 35% of the signed development pipeline and driven largely by conversion-friendly brands such as Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, and Tribute Portfolio.

Marriott International, Inc. announced today the company reached the 300-property mark in Mexico, accounting for more than 44,000 rooms across 25 global brands in the country. The milestone reflects sustained investment and travel demand across the country's Caribbean and Pacific coastlines, historic urban capitals, and rapidly developing industrial corridors.
This momentum is supported by the company’s robust development pipeline in Mexico of 76 hotels representing more than 12,000 rooms, as of the second quarter of 2026. Conversions are playing an increasingly important role in the company’s expansion in the country, accounting for 35% of the signed pipeline. The company expects to open more than 10 additional hotels in Mexico before the end of 2026.
"Reaching the 300-property mark in Mexico is a landmark achievement for Marriott International, reflecting the strength of our global brands and the momentum that has positioned us as the leading hospitality company in Mexico with the largest portfolio of open and pipeline hotels," said Alejandro Acevedo, Regional Vice President of Development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. "Mexico's rich travel landscape continues to open new avenues for expansion, and our success in the market is rooted in a locally driven approach, powered by talented teams across development and operations who understand the unique dynamics of the country. By combining flexible conversion platforms, expanded all-inclusive offerings, branded residential and targeted development in regional business hubs, we are giving owners diverse ways to create value, while giving Marriott Bonvoy members even more choices to tailor their stays."
Mexico's resort markets continue to deliver strong momentum for Marriott across the luxury and all-inclusive segments. In June, Marriott expanded its luxury offering with the opening of The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, a beachfront enclave located near protected mangroves and the barrier reef. In May, the company debuted the conversion of The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort, marking the brand’s first all-inclusive property in Mexico.
Anticipated openings along Mexico’s coast include Casa Nizuc, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, expected to debut in November. Marriott also recently announced an agreement with BlueBay Group to introduce a Marriott Hotels all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya. Additionally, through an agreement with The Reef Resorts & Spa, Marriott plans to convert three properties to join the Tribute Portfolio Hotels collection, The Reef Playacar, The Reef 28, and The Reef Coco Beach, adding 676 rooms to the brand’s all-inclusive pipeline and marking its debut in Playa del Carmen.
Conversion-friendly brands, including The Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, and Tribute Portfolio Hotels, are fueling conversions across the country, supported by flexible brand platforms that appeal to owners of independent properties. This segment gained traction with conversions such as Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort and Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort, Riviera Maya, Adult All-Inclusive, completed in recent years.
Looking ahead, Marriott anticipates welcoming several new properties across Mexico, including Hotel Boca Alameda, Mexico City, Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels by Marriott Chihuahua, and CASAMAYOR Hotel Hacienda, Autograph Collection, further reflecting the company’s continued expansion and diversification across the country.
Marriott is also expanding into secondary and tertiary markets, in support of tourism and business travel across the country. Regional manufacturing and trade hubs have helped fuel this expansion, with openings including Sheraton León in April, Fairfield by Marriott San Luis Potosí Los Lagos in July, and Courtyard by Marriott Torreón in August. Additional developments are planned to open in 2027 across the states of Chihuahua, Michoacán, and Puebla.
This 300-property milestone solidifies Marriott’s position as a leading hospitality company in Mexico and reinforces its long-term commitment to the country’s tourism and economic development. Supported by trusted local collaborations and the reach of Marriott Bonvoy, the company continues to bring world-class hospitality to destinations across Mexico....
