The complex, made up of three hotels and a collection of premium apartments, will add 864 rooms to Meliá’s offering on the Costa del Sol. Holiday World Resort will begin operating under the Affiliated by Meliá brand starting next March.
Meliá Hotels International, Spain's leading hotel company, has announced the upcoming addition of the Holiday World Resort complex to its portfolio. Located in Benalmádena, one of the most iconic and popular destinations on the Costa del Sol, the three hotels and premium apartment complex that make up Holiday World Resort will become part of Meliá's offering in Málaga as of next March.
Owned by Grupo Peñarroya, Holiday World Resort is one of the most emblematic tourism developments on the Costa del Sol and a benchmark for family‑focused, all‑inclusive vacations in the region. The complex includes three superior four‑star hotels—Holiday World Polynesia, Holiday World Riwo, and Holiday World Village—along with the premium Casamaïa apartments, totaling 864 rooms.
With more than 20 years of history, Holiday World has redefined the destination's vacation experience through a comprehensive offering that combines leisure, dining, sports, and wellness. Among its standout facilities is a Beach Club spanning more than 29,000 square meters, featuring nine pools, eleven jacuzzis, a wave pool, slides, and themed water areas ideal for families, complemented by a wide range of dining options.
The complex also boasts extensive sports facilities, including a 3,600‑square‑meter center with tennis, paddle, and basketball courts, a seven‑a‑side football pitch, and functional training areas. For the 2026 season, it will add four pickleball courts, becoming the first holiday resort in Spain to offer a dedicated pickleball sports club.
Each of the hotels within the complex has its own distinct personality:
Holiday World Polynesia stands out for its inspiration drawn from the exotic beauty of the Polynesian islands. With 328 rooms—including suites with jacuzzis and sea views—it features an outdoor pool, bowling alley, mini‑golf, games area, gym with massage and sauna facilities, and six restaurants and bars offering a diverse culinary experience.
Holiday World Riwo, with 148 rooms, offers a family‑oriented concept reflected in leisure‑focused spaces such as a soft‑play area with slides, an outdoor auditorium, games area, and an outdoor pool with solarium. It also features three restaurants, a gym with massage and sauna area, and recreational activities for all ages.
Holiday World Village is characterized by its spacious facilities. With 360 rooms, it combines comfort and entertainment through a wide range of spaces including a recreation room with billiards, arcade games and cinema, mini‑golf, a gym with massage and sauna area, and a spectacular Beach Club with nine outdoor pools. Its dining offering includes six restaurants and pubs, making it an ideal option for families and groups seeking a complete experience on the Costa del Sol.
Casamaïa offers 28 premium apartments designed for exclusive stays, including one‑bedroom suites, penthouses, and family options. The Casamaïa Apartments building features a full spa and wellness center (Hydros Spa), a fully equipped gym, and both indoor and outdoor pools, providing a comprehensive wellness experience for guests seeking comfort and high‑end services.
The complex is scheduled to be officially incorporated next March, when it will join the Meliá Hotels International portfolio and begin operating as Affiliated by Meliá Holiday World.
Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, stated: “The Costa del Sol has always been a strategic destination for Meliá, and the addition of Holiday World Resort reinforces our commitment to tourism quality and to expanding in Spain's key leisure destinations. We are proud to add one of Málaga's most complete resorts to our portfolio."
Pepa Peñarroya, President of Grupo Peñarroya, highlighted: “This agreement marks a milestone for Holiday World, opening a new stage of growth and consolidation for our hotel project. It will also allow us to strengthen our vacation offering, enhance the guest experience through strategic renovations, and access new markets with the support of a partner with a strong track record and deep industry expertise."
With this new addition, Meliá Hotels International increases to 22 the number of hotels operating or under development in the province of Málaga, consolidating its leadership in one of Spain's main tourism hubs. At the same time, the integration of Holiday World Resort into its portfolio reinforces both companies' shared commitment to sustainable, high‑quality tourism on the Costa del Sol and supports the evolution of the complex toward a more competitive, modern model aligned with the needs of today's travelers. ..Read more here
