Minor Hotels announces the promotion of Sonia Sammut to General Manager of Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort, effective 1 January 2026.


A highly respected hospitality professional with almost 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Sonia brings deep operational expertise, strong commercial acumen, and a people-first leadership style to her new role. Over the past eighteen months, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the resort’s success, driving measurable improvements across operations, guest satisfaction, and overall brand performance.


Sonia most recently served as Resort Manager at Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort, where she oversaw the operations of the resort’s 70 exclusive villas and led a diverse, multicultural team in delivering refined, personalized guest experiences. Her ability to foster strong relationships with ownership partners has been instrumental in building trust, alignment, and long-term value for the property.


Her career with Minor Hotels includes key leadership roles across the UAE. At Anantara The Palm Dubai Residences, Sonia introduced a comprehensive facilities management program, implemented sustainability initiatives, and elevated the residential living experience. She also played an integral role in the pre-opening of DUKES Dubai, where she led recruitment, training, and guest experience initiatives, contributing to the successful launch and positioning of the property.


Recognized for her commitment to excellence and continuous development, Sonia holds advanced certifications in leadership, agile management, and facilities management. Multilingual and globally minded, she brings cultural fluency, emotional intelligence, and strategic clarity to both guest engagement and team leadership.
