Mandarin Oriental is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Jackson as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong and Area Vice President, Operations, overseeing Mandarin Oriental properties in Hong Kong, Macau, Tokyo, and the upcoming Mandarin Oriental Manila, Makati.
With more than three decades of experience in luxury hospitality, Paul Jackson has held senior leadership roles across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and China. His career includes positions at Grand InterContinental Seoul and The Ritz Hotel London, as well as earlier service within the Royal Household in the United Kingdom.
Jackson is highly attuned to Mandarin Oriental's values and culture, having previously spent 10 years with the Group - joining Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong as Executive Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage, before being appointed Hotel Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, and later General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Sanya on Hainan Island, where he successfully spearheaded the opening and reinforced its positioning as a leading luxury destination in southern China.
Following his tenure with Mandarin Oriental, Jackson served as General Manager of the famed five-red-AA star Claridge's in London, where he elevated the hotel's global profile and led a major enhancement programme that seamlessly balanced heritage with contemporary luxury. He later helmed Capella Singapore, strengthening its position as one of the region's leading luxury resorts through a strong focus on guest experience and operational excellence.
Jackson brings to Hong Kong a proven track record in managing landmark hotels, driving guest-centric experience, and stewarding complex renovation and repositioning projects. His experience in managing heritage icons and resort destinations alike positions him uniquely to lead Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong into its next chapter, as the hotel embarks on a transformative renovation of more than US$100 million to reimagine its public spaces, guestrooms, and suites, introduce 11 residential-style apartments, elevate wellness with a new Wellness Club, and further establish the property as one of the city's most exciting dining destinations. Alongside enhancements to its celebrated existing venues, the hotel will welcome a series of new restaurant concepts, including Terrace Boulud by Mandarin Oriental, a vibrant rooftop brasserie by internationally acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud on the 25th floor of LANDMARK PRINCE'S Building, set to open in March 2026, bringing globally renowned culinary talent and innovative gastronomy to the heart of Central.
In his capacity as General Manager and Area Vice President, Operations, Jackson will work closely with the Group's leadership to support operational excellence, talent development, and guest-centric innovation across key hotels in the region, while preserving the legacy and distinctive character of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.
“Paul's deep understanding of luxury hospitality, his long-standing connection with Mandarin Oriental, and his experience leading some of the world's most celebrated hotels make him exceptionally well-suited to this role,” said Amanda Hyndman, Chief Operating Officer, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. “We are delighted to welcome him back to the Group and to our flagship in Hong Kong, where the story of Mandarin Oriental first began.”
A British national, Paul Jackson has worked across key luxury markets, bringing a global perspective and nuanced understanding of the industry. His leadership style combines a strong focus on personalised service with an appreciation for local culture, culinary excellence, and thoughtful design – qualities that resonate closely with Mandarin Oriental's reputation for legendary hospitality.
Jackson will succeed Greg Liddell, who will assume the role of Regional Vice President, Operations, with responsibility for overseeing the Group's properties across Asia and the Middle East, providing strategic leadership and support to a diverse portfolio of landmark hotels and key development projects across the region.
Jackson will be based at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong from January 2026....- Hotel Management Global Outlook Link
