The Meliá Collection will make its debut in Rome in 2027, adding the Italian capital to the portfolio of destinations where Meliá Hotels International’s luxury brand brings together distinctive hotels with their own identity and a strong connection to the character and culture of their surroundings.

The brand’s arrival in Rome follows an agreement between Meliá Hotels International and Gruppo Stay to develop a new hotel in the heart of the city. The Meliá Collection Rome strengthens Meliá’s growth strategy in the premium and luxury segments, with a particular focus on some of the world’s most attractive and prestigious urban destinations. For Gruppo Stay, the project marks another important step in its growth journey and further strengthens its position in the Italian hotel sector, with a focus on high-value projects in internationally renowned destinations.

This will be the third collaboration between the two companies, following the Auronzo Dolomites Affiliated by Meliá and Pozza di Fassa Dolomiti Affiliated by Meliá projects, further strengthening a relationship built around a shared vision for growth and value creation in the Italian market.

Operating under a franchise model, The Meliá Collection Rome will be located on Via XX Settembre, one of the main thoroughfares in central Rome and just a short distance from the iconic Via Veneto. The hotel will feature 67 rooms, a restaurant, bar, rooftop bar and wellness area, offering a proposition designed to appeal both to international travellers and local guests.

With more than two thousand years of history, an extraordinary cultural heritage and a distinctive identity that has made it one of the world’s leading tourist destinations, Rome is a natural fit for The Meliá Collection. The brand is designed for travellers seeking authentic experiences and hotels with a distinctive personality, closely connected to their destination. Each property in the collection aims to reflect the essence, culture and character of its surroundings.

"Rome is a natural addition to The Meliá Collection and a key destination in our growth strategy for the luxury segment. We are particularly pleased to be entering the city together with Gruppo Stay, a partner with whom we already share two projects in Italy, and whose confidence we greatly appreciate as we continue to build our presence in the country together," said Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International.

For his part, Andrea Franceschi, Founder and Owner of Gruppo Stay, said: "This project represents a major milestone for us. Rome is one of the most important destinations for the tourism industry and, at the same time, a highly attractive strategic market. This addition will strengthen our position in the Italian hotel sector and allow us to further expand our presence in urban hospitality with an exceptional property in the heart of the capital. We are also delighted to be developing this project together with Meliá Hotels International, a partner with whom we have built a strong and successful relationship and who brings significant value to the project."

The signing of this agreement further strengthens Italy’s position as one of the strategic markets for Meliá Hotels International’s growth. With 19 hotels open or under development in the country, as well as a second property in Rome, the company continues to advance its international expansion strategy, with a particular focus on the premium and luxury segments.

Small Tip To Landing Good Senior-Level Hotel Management Positions in 2026 & 2027

Many of our members have remained with us since the inception of our job lead service nine years ago. They continue to renew their memberships, staying on board even after securing new positions, and for good reason.

Daily, our editors dispatch bulletins detailing new job vacancies, projects, and industry shifts, including hotel launches, expansions, strategies, and market trends.

We recognize that numerous long-standing, senior-level members utilize these bulletins as conversation starters, reaching out to hotel chains and potential employers, sometimes with unsolicited applications and messages. LHN endorses such proactive engagement. It's an excellent, informal method to gain early interest from prominent hotel groups and upcoming projects, indicating your interest and broadening your opportunities for intriguing interviews or discussions about potential roles, particularly at the upper echelons of management.

Our editors also keep these proactive efforts in mind, shaping many bulletins to cover "new openings, new projects, and new market developments."
