Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti announces the appointment of Mary Bowens as General Manager, bringing more than two and a half decades of experience with Four Seasons to one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations.

Mary joins the lodge following her recent role as Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, where she was recognized for her people‑first approach, deep respect for local culture, and ability to create immersive guest experiences in harmony with nature. Her appointment marks the next chapter in a distinguished career spanning Europe, North America, Asia‑Pacific, and the Indian Ocean.

Set within the world‑renowned Serengeti National Park, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti offers guests a front‑row seat to one of the planet’s most extraordinary ecosystems. Overlooking an active wildlife watering hole, the lodge blends understated luxury with immersive safari experiences, thoughtful dining, conservation‑led programming, and a deep connection to both land and community, creating stays defined by stillness, discovery, and meaning.

“Stepping into the Serengeti feels both humbling and deeply meaningful,” says Mary Bowens. “In a place defined by wilderness, hospitality becomes an act of listening - to the land, to the people, and to the moments that stay with guests long after they leave.”

Mary began her career with Four Seasons in 2001 at the former Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, progressing through front office, housekeeping, and rooms roles across a portfolio of flagship hotels and resorts including Chicago, Seattle, Maui, Toronto, Sydney, and Bali. Recognized for her operational expertise and collaborative approach, she has consistently focused on developing talent, nurturing strong teams, and delivering thoughtful, personalized guest experiences.

Throughout her career, Mary has remained deeply committed to mentorship and professional development - an approach that aligns naturally with the brand’s people‑first culture and long‑standing commitment to excellence.

“Working with teams in a place like the Serengeti is about trust, respect, and shared purpose,” she adds. “I am deeply committed to developing and empowering our people - creating a culture of continuous growth where every team member feels confident to bring their best, and where exceptional guest experiences are delivered naturally through genuine care, knowledge, and connection.”

In her new role, Mary will oversee all aspects of lodge operations, guiding the continued evolution of the guest experience while supporting the long‑standing commitment of Four Seasons to conservation, community engagement, and responsible tourism within the Serengeti ecosystem.

“Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is a place that asks for humility, respect, and vision,” says Martin Cody, Regional Vice President and General Manager. “Mary brings an extraordinary depth of global experience and a genuine passion for people. She has a natural ability to connect teams to purpose, and I have full confidence that under her guidance, the lodge will continue to inspire guests while honoring the land and communities that make the Serengeti so special.”

Mary assumes her role at a time when travelers are increasingly seeking meaningful, perspective‑shifting journeys rooted in nature, connection, and authenticity.

“If guests leave feeling calmer, more present, and more connected to the world around them, then we’ve done something meaningful,” Mary comments. “The Serengeti has a way of quietly shifting perspective, and that is one of its greatest gifts.... Read more here - Hotel Management Global Outlook Link

Small Tip To Landing Good Senior-Level Hotel Management Positions in 2026

Many of our members have remained with us since the inception of our job lead service seven years ago. They continue to renew their memberships, staying on board even after securing new positions, and for good reason.

Daily, our editors dispatch bulletins detailing new job vacancies, projects, and industry shifts, including hotel launches, expansions, strategies, and market trends.

We recognize that numerous long-standing, senior-level members utilize these bulletins as conversation starters, reaching out to hotel chains and potential employers, sometimes with unsolicited applications and messages. LHN endorses such proactive engagement. It's an excellent, informal method to gain early interest from prominent hotel groups and upcoming projects, indicating your interest and broadening your opportunities for intriguing interviews or discussions about potential roles, particularly at the upper echelons of management.

Our editors also keep these proactive efforts in mind, shaping many bulletins to cover "new openings, new projects, and new market developments."

While membership spots for 2026 are limited, it's not too late to renew.- Read more her
