Garner Becomes Fastest Scaling Global Brand in IHG History

Midscale conversion brand continues to deliver value to owners and guests as it reaches 100 open global properties
Midscale conversion brand continues to deliver value to owners and guests as it reaches 100 open global properties

Garner Hotels, a midscale conversion brand within the IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) portfolio, today celebrates reaching 100 open hotels globally since its August 2023 launch. IHG’s fastest-ever brand to scale globally, Garner continues to drive value for guests and owners by focusing on important stay essentials while offering a flexible, conversion-friendly development model.

Garner’s rapid expansion includes a global pipeline of almost 80 hotels that will nearly double its reach in the coming years. With open or pipeline properties in 12 countries, Garner continues to welcome guests in more key markets ranging from the US and Mexico to Italy and Japan. The brand’s rising popularity among owners and developers stems from growing worldwide demand for conversion properties, which accounted for 52 percent of all IHG room openings in 2025. A competitive cost-per-key ratio, flexible design standards, reduced pre-opening costs, and accelerated turnaround process likewise have fueled its rapid growth, with some properties completing high-quality conversions in a little more than a month between signing and opening.

Focused on its mission to offer guests “easy-going stays that get you on your way,” Garner caters to travelers who prioritize comfort, quality, and service at an affordable price point. Each property’s design celebrates the diversity of its home city, and thoughtful amenities prioritize what guests covet most, including comfortable beds, a sound night’s sleep, and a great hot breakfast to start the day. Public and in-room workspaces also assist those traveling for business or a mix of work and play.

Karen Gilbride, Global Vice President for Garner Hotels at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Garner’s initial global success reflects IHG’s proven expertise in building and scaling conversion-ready brands that owners and guests trust. Beyond offering a high-quality alternative for value-conscious travelers, Garner’s flexible development model allows the brand to more quickly enter new global markets and deliver returns for owners. Even as we’ve reached some amazing initial milestones, we’re just starting to tap into Garner’s full growth potential and look forward to introducing its unique offering to more owners and travelers in the years ahead.”

In the Americas, the brand’s 32 signings and 23 openings in 2025 represented the third-highest totals of any IHG brand in the region. These openings included the first Garner in Mexico (Garner Hotel Mazatlán Beach) and new US offerings in Butte, Mont. and near Arizona’s Lake Powell. In 2026, Garner already has introduced itself to suburban Boston and the greater New York City area.

Across the Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa (EMEAA) region, Garner opened the most hotels (43) of any IHG brand in 2025, largely driven by the initial transitions of an eventual 56 total open and pipeline properties in Germany, following a 2024 agreement with NOVUM Hospitality. More broadly in Europe, 2025 saw the openings of the first Garner hotels in Italy (Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia), Türkiye (Garner Hotel Istanbul – Airport Arnavutköy) and the UK (Garner Hotel Preston Samlesbury). Further east, Garner made its debut in Japan in 2025 with three openings in Osaka, followed by the opening of Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. 2025 also saw the opening of the first Garner in Southeast Asia (Garner Hotel Pattaya Central in Thailand), along with its first five signings in India.

Garner’s global reach will grow further as the brand expands across Greater China later this year, offering guests new alternatives to rest and recharge in some of the region’s most heavily traveled and populated destinations..... Read more here - Hotel Management Global Outlook Link

Small Tip To Landing Good Senior-Level Hotel Management Positions in 2026

Many of our members have remained with us since the inception of our job lead service seven years ago. They continue to renew their memberships, staying on board even after securing new positions, and for good reason.

Daily, our editors dispatch bulletins detailing new job vacancies, projects, and industry shifts, including hotel launches, expansions, strategies, and market trends.

We recognize that numerous long-standing, senior-level members utilize these bulletins as conversation starters, reaching out to hotel chains and potential employers, sometimes with unsolicited applications and messages. LHN endorses such proactive engagement. It's an excellent, informal method to gain early interest from prominent hotel groups and upcoming projects, indicating your interest and broadening your opportunities for intriguing interviews or discussions about potential roles, particularly at the upper echelons of management.

Our editors also keep these proactive efforts in mind, shaping many bulletins to cover "new openings, new projects, and new market developments."

While membership spots for 2026 are limited, it's not too late to renew.- Read more her
