Kempinski Hotels Faces Major Leadership Overhaul Amid Strategic Shift - Departure of Group CEO Barbara Muckermann alongside several top C-suite officials

Kempinski Hotels has confirmed a sweeping restructuring of its executive team, marked by the departure of Group CEO Barbara Muckermann alongside several top C-suite officials.
The sudden leadership transition comes at a critical juncture for the 127-year-old luxury hospitality brand, which has been undergoing a broader corporate transformation under its Bahraini-controlled ownership.
The departures represent an almost total overhaul of the group’s upper management. Alongside Muckermann—who made history as the company's first female CEO—the exiting team includes Chief Financial Officer Gordon Drake, Chief Development Officer Frank Veenstra, Chief Human Resources Officer Karin Raguin, Chief Brand Officer Barbara Biffi, and Chief Commercial Officer Massimo Brancaleoni. Chief Information Officer Riko van Santen also recently vacated his role.

To ensure continuity, the luxury group has already activated interim succession plans. Andrea Vanni has stepped in as the new Chief Financial Officer, while Noel Attard takes over as Chief Development Officer. The company's day-to-day hotel operations remain entirely unaffected as the Board of Directors, chaired by René Nijhof, stabilizes the executive layer and begins the search for a permanent Chief Executive.
