The hotel group received a Special Mention from the organisation for placing within Spain’s top ten across all three Innovation Indices: Commercial, Social, and Digital. Its positive impact on society and the environment, along with the Group’s creativity, were the factors most valued by consumers.
Carlos III de Madrid University yesterday presented the results of the 4th Spanish Innovation Index (IEI), which gathers Spanish consumers' assessments of companies based on the perceived innovation of their products and services. The analysis drew from more than 2,500 surveys covering 131 companies across 21 different sectors, collectively representing over 70% of household consumption in Spain.
The study evaluates innovation through three key dimensions: commercial innovation, which measures consumers' perception of the overall innovation of a company's products and services; social innovation, which reflects the company's contribution to society and the environment through innovation; and digital innovation, which gauges the extent to which consumers view the company as innovative in its digital solutions.
Meliá received a Special Mention in recognition of its strong performance across all three indices—Commercial, Social, and Digital—highlighting in particular its scores in Social Innovation, acknowledging the company's contribution to society and the environment and its innovative offering in this area. In terms of Commercial Innovation, consumers especially valued the Company's “creativity," placing Meliá third in the sector ranking for Commercial Innovation and making it the highest‑rated hotel brand in this category.
