Rosewood today announces the development of Rosewood Tokyo, its first urban hotel in Japan and the next chapter of the brand’s growth in Asia Pacific. Set in the heart of Roppongi, the project will bring together culture, craftsmanship, and contemporary living through a distinctly Tokyo lens. A joint project with Mori Building Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Realty & Development Co., Ltd., Rosewood Tokyo underscores the brand’s commitment to Japan following the debut of Rosewood Miyakojima in 2025.
A Visionary Urban Destination
Located within the Roppongi 5-Chome development, Rosewood Tokyo will anchor one of the city’s most ambitious new mixed-use destinations. Directly connected to Roppongi Subway Station, the development will integrate hospitality, residences, retail, and office space into a singular architectural vision, with Rosewood Tokyo at its core.
“We are excited to introduce Rosewood Tokyo, a strategic expansion that reinforces our commitment to Japan,” said Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Guided by our A Sense of Place philosophy, Rosewood Tokyo will celebrate the city’s cultural depth while delivering distinctive, locally rooted experiences in one of the world’s most influential global capitals.”
A New Era of Hospitality in Japan
The hotel will feature approximately 200 guestrooms and suites, including expansive three-bedroom accommodations, alongside a collection of destination-led dining and bar concepts inspired by Tokyo’s renowned culinary culture. Guests will also have access to Rosewood’s signature Manor Club, Asaya wellbeing concept, including an indoor pool, fitness and yoga facilities, and a variety of event spaces including a grand ballroom designed for international gatherings and cultural exchange.
“We are delighted to welcome Rosewood to Tokyo through this partnership, which fulfills Rosewood's long-held goal of expanding into the city,” said Shingo Tsuji, President and CEO of Mori Building. “Roppongi 5-Chome is an ideal location for this endeavor, which will create new value in Tokyo's luxury market and boost the city's global competitiveness.”
Kojun Nishima, President of Sumitomo Realty & Development Co., Ltd., commented: “We are thrilled to partner with Rosewood to create exceptional value through the Roppongi 5-Chome Project, a landmark development that symbolizes the future of Tokyo. We are confident that Rosewood’s distinctive vision and legendary hospitality will help transform the project into a one-of-a-kind global destination that captivates the world.”
Anchored in Place, Inspired by Possibility
Rosewood Tokyo marks a pivotal evolution in the brand’s presence in Japan, complementing the serene, nature-led experience of Rosewood Miyakojima with a distinctly urban perspective. This announcement also reinforces Rosewood’s strategic expansion globally, with upcoming openings including Rosewood Seoul, Rosewood Shenzhen, Rosewood Ranfaru in the Maldives, Rosewood Calistoga in California’s Napa Valley, and Rosewood Rome.....
