Global Hotel Alliance has expanded its portfolio with two homegrown hospitality brands from Turkey and Poland, adding The Marmara Hotels and PURO Hotels to the GHA DISCOVERY loyalty programme. Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai has announced the appointment of Ivan Giles as General Manager, marking a new chapter for the resort amid the rice fields and mountains of Northern Thailand. Hilton Expands LXR Hotels & Resorts in Costa Rica with Maravé Manuel Antonio Signing

Hilton has announced the signing of Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Hotels & Resorts, marking the brand's upcoming debut in Costa Rica and a significant step in Hilton's continued luxury expansion across the Caribbean and Latin America. Located on a nearly 40-acre estate of rare, titled beachfront that descends from rainforest ridge to 650 feet of Pacific beachfront, the resort will blend 173 accommodations, including dedicated hotel guest rooms, suites, and fully furnished branded residences, with sweeping views of the ocean, surrounding mountains, and rainforest canopy. Accor and Al Qimmah Hospitality Expand Strategic Partnership

Accor and Al Qimmah Hospitality, a subsidiary of BinDawood Investment Company, have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership to develop a portfolio of more than 4,000 keys across Saudi Arabia, with a strong focus on Makkah and Madinah, marked by the signing of a new 850-key Novotel property in Makkah. Announced in Paris during the French-Saudi Investment Roundtable, the signing builds on the master development agreement established in 2025 and brings the partnership to five hotels across Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah, spanning premium, midscale, and economy hospitality.

Adrien Harel Appointed General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

Adrien Harel has been named General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, marking the return of the globally experienced hospitality executive to the Two Michelin Key private island resort, where he previously served as Resort Manager.

STR Report: U.S. Hotel Performance for July 2026
U.S. hotels in July recorded year-over-year increases in average daily rate, occupancy and revenue per available room, marking the sixth consecutive month of gains in key performance metrics, according to STR parent CoStar -3. RevPAR rose 8.2% year over year to $119.77, driven by a 5.7% increase in ADR to $171.74 and a 2.3% rise in occupancy to 69.7%. Short-term rental RevPAR also increased 7.2% year-over-year, with ADR up 6.9% and occupancy up 0.3%.
RevPAR in 22 of STR's top 25 markets increased year over year. New York City, near the FIFA World Cup Final site, posted the largest growth in ADR (24% to $351.18) and RevPAR (27.1% to $305.74). Detroit recorded a 10.7% year-over-year gain in occupancy to 70.7%. The strong July performance was driven by the FIFA World Cup, with host cities recording 15% to 20%+ RevPAR spikes, while other factors including stronger convention calendars, a surge in lodging demand in Minneapolis during heightened ICE enforcement activity, and the Bay Area's continued rebound as a hub for AI research and development also contributed to the results. The U.S. RevPAR growth forecast for 2026 now reflects a strong 4.5%, a significant rebound from the 0.3% decline in 2025, with analysts expecting continued favorable growth but at levels moderately below the June through mid-July peak..... Park Hyatt Sets Its Sights on Portugal

Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Portuguese real estate developer Coporgest have signed agreements for the development, branding, and operation of Park Hyatt Comporta and Park Hyatt Comporta Residences, with opening expected in 2029. The project will mark the debut of the Park Hyatt brand in Portugal and will be located in Comporta, on the Alentejo coast, approximately one hour from Lisbon.

IHG Signs Landmark 14-Hotel Portfolio Deal in Japan
IHG Hotels and Resorts has signed a landmark 14-hotel portfolio deal in Kyoto, Japan, with long-term partner GCP Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Gaw Capital Group. The milestone portfolio deal, totaling 1,063 rooms, includes 12 Garner hotels, one Holiday Inn Express, and one currently unbranded hotel. All hotels will be converted, with phased openings after renovations and rebranding to embed the Garner and Holiday Inn Express hallmarks across the next 12 months.
The signing demonstrates one of the largest conversion portfolio deals in Japan in recent years and exemplifies the strong growth momentum of Garner in Japan. Garner is IHG's fastest-ever brand to scale globally and recently celebrated reaching 100 open hotels since its August 2023 launch. The deal also marks the signing of IHG's third Holiday Inn Express in Japan, following properties in Osaka and Sapporo.

STR Report: U.S. Hotel Results for Week Ending 15 August
The U.S. hotel industry reported its 18th consecutive week of positive year-over-year comparisons, according to CoStar's latest data through August 15. For the week of August 9–15, nationwide occupancy reached 68.0%, up 2.6% from the same week in 2025. Average daily rate rose 3.5% to $163.56, while revenue per available room increased 6.2% to $111.29. Demand growth exceeded 3% for the third consecutive week, marking the first such three-week sequence since 2023.
Among the Top 25 Markets, San Diego saw the highest increases in ADR (+12.6% to $249.71) and RevPAR (+22.8% to $201.10), helped by LPL Focus 2026 as well as a Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan concert. Tampa reported the only double-digit occupancy lift (+11.7% to 64.9%) and the second-highest RevPAR gain (+17.5% to $96.55), hosting the DoDIIS Worldwide Conference and a Mötley Crüe concert. Weekday business travel drove much of the demand growth, with Sunday-through-Thursday travel accounting for roughly 80% of all U.S. hotel demand growth during the week. Marriott Signs Ritz-Carlton Reserve to Shanghai

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Shanghai SIIC North Bund Landmark Construction and Development Co., Ltd. to introduce the world's first urban Ritz-Carlton Reserve to Shanghai, rising 480 meters across 103 floors overlooking the city's North Bund waterfront. The 110-room hotel, slated to open in 2030, marks a significant evolution for the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand, which until now has existed only as a small number of secluded properties in remote destinations.
The urban Reserve concept is a "highly selective extension of the brand," bringing the "rarity, personalization, and sense of wellbeing" that define the Reserve experience to one of the world's most dynamic cities. The hotel will offer a specialty restaurant, Chinese dining experiences, a lobby lounge, a bespoke bar, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and a spa and wellness retreat.
